Peter Thelen founded Thelen Financial with a simple mission: to give Main Street business owners access to the same level of strategic financial guidance that larger companies receive.
After seeing too many entrepreneurs struggle to find advisors who truly understood their businesses, Peter built Thelen Financial as more than a traditional CPA firm. His vision was to create a trusted advisory practice where business owners could turn for answers, strategy, and practical solutions—not just tax preparation.
Peter believes a CPA should be a trusted advisor and the first phone call a business owner makes when facing an important decision. Rather than acting as a deal killer, he focuses on understanding the client’s goals, identifying opportunities, and helping solve complex business challenges with thoughtful, practical advice.
Today, Peter works primarily with closely held businesses and their owners, with particular expertise serving companies in the construction, contracting, and service industries. His clients also include professional service firms, real estate businesses, manufacturers, nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurs across a wide range of industries. Whether advising on tax strategy, business growth, succession planning, financial reporting, or operational decisions, Peter’s goal remains the same: helping business owners make better decisions with confidence.
As Founder and Principal of Thelen Financial, Peter leads a firm built on three core values: trust, technical excellence, and long-term relationships. Clients appreciate not only his depth of knowledge but also his ability to explain complex financial issues in clear, understandable terms. His approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on creating lasting value rather than delivering one-time solutions.
Peter serves on the Board of Directors of the North Atlanta Chapter of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) and remains actively involved in the accounting profession through continuing education, leadership, and service. He is passionate about helping elevate the profession while mentoring business owners through every stage of their journey.
Outside the office, Peter is first and foremost a husband and father of four. Whether he’s cheering from the sidelines at volleyball and softball tournaments, enjoying a round of golf, or spending time with his family and church community, he values the relationships that matter most.
